What Is an Allied Bank Debit Card / ATM Card?
Allied Bank Limited (ABL) offers a range of debit cards — previously also known as ATM cards — that allow customers to withdraw cash, make retail purchases, pay bills, and shop online. The terms “ATM card” and “debit card” are often used interchangeably in Pakistan, though modern ABL cards are fully-featured debit cards that work at ATMs, POS terminals, and on e-commerce platforms.
ABL’s card lineup spans several tiers, from the basic domestic-only card right up to premium international Visa cards, each with its own fee structure.
Allied Bank Debit Card Charges — Annual Fees
The annual fee (also called the issuance or renewal fee) is the most commonly asked-about charge. It is collected in advance at the start of each calendar year when the card is issued, and no refund is given on account closure.
This is ABL’s most popular everyday card, accepted globally via the Visa network. It supports NFC contactless payments, online shopping with Verified by Visa (3D Secure), and international ATM use.
Off-Net ATM Withdrawals (other bank 1Link ATMs): Charged at actual rates as per 1Link
Annual Fee: As per ABL’s Schedule of Charges (SOC) — typically in the range of Rs. 1,000–1,500 plus applicable FED
Card Replacement Fee: As per the current SOC
On-Net ATM Withdrawals (ABL ATMs): Free
Designed for a more premium banking experience, this card offers higher transaction limits — a daily cash withdrawal limit of PKR 300,000 at ATMs and PKR 500,000 for retail purchases (POS and e-commerce). It comes with global travel perks including access to the Visa Luxury Hotel Collection, DragonPass dining discounts at 200+ locations, and Avis Car Rental discounts. Eligibility criteria apply for this card.
- Annual Fee: Higher than Classic tier; as per current ABL SOC
- Card Replacement Fee: As per SOC
- On-Net ATM Withdrawals: Free
- Off-Net ATM Withdrawals: Charged at 1Link rates
Allied Visa Premium Debit Card
ABL’s flagship debit card for high-net-worth customers. To qualify, customers must maintain a minimum deposit of PKR 2 million in a Current, Savings, Term Deposit, or equivalent Foreign Currency Account, or hold an investment of at least PKR 2 million in Allied Bank’s Asset Management Company.
- Annual/Renewal Fee: As per current ABL SOC (premium tier pricing)
- Balance Maintenance Requirement: If the monthly average balance of PKR 2 million is not maintained in the respective savings account, a fee of PKR 3,000 per month will be charged.
- Downgrade Policy: If the required average balance is not maintained for the entire year, the card will be downgraded on the next Annual/Renewal date.
Allied Basic Debit Card (UPI & PayPak)
Designed for customers with basic banking needs, including those with photo or shaky-signature accounts. It can be used at over 13,000 ATMs and 50,000+ retail outlets across Pakistan. This card is restricted to domestic use only and cannot be used for online shopping or international transactions.
- Annual Fee: Lower entry-level fee as per ABL SOC
- Eligible Customers: Includes illiterate customers with basic account types
Allied UnionPay PayPak Classic Debit Card
Designed for both Regular and Asaan Account holders, this contactless, co-badged card provides convenient access to POS transactions, online shopping, ATM withdrawals, and much more — wherever UnionPay and PayPak are accepted.
- Annual Fee: As per ABL’s current SOC
- Asaan Account Limit: Asaan Account holders are limited to PKR 500,000 in total debit/credit transactions per month.
Allied Bank New ATM Card Charges (Issuance & Replacement)
When you apply for a new card or need to replace a lost, damaged, or expired card, the following charges typically apply:
- New Card Issuance Fee: This is generally the same as the annual fee and is recovered upfront in the calendar year the card is issued
- Card Replacement Fee: A separate flat fee applies for replacing a lost or damaged card, varying by card tier
- Card Activation: Card Activation Service through Biometric ATM is free
- Upgrade/Downgrade: Moving between card tiers may trigger a new issuance fee for the upgraded card
Important notes on new card charges:

- Free first year annual/issuance fee for Debit Card in Pocket Money Account of Allied Rising Star category
- Free first year annual/issuance fee for UPI PayPak Classic Debit Card for Allied Freelancer category accounts

Allied Bank ATM Card Annual Charges — Key Rules to Know
Annual charges at Allied Bank follow a set of important rules that every cardholder should be aware of:
When is the annual fee collected? The annual fee is collected at the start of the calendar year in which the card is issued or renewed. If you get a card mid-year, you still pay the full annual fee upfront for that calendar year.
Is there a refund if I close my account? No. As stated in ABL’s Schedule of Charges, no refund is provided upon account closure.
What happens if I don’t maintain the required balance? For premium card tiers, a monthly penalty fee applies if the required minimum average balance is not maintained. For the Premium Debit Card, if the monthly average balance of Rs. 2 million is not maintained in the respective savings account, the bank will charge a fee of Rs. 3,000 per month till the next Annual/Renewal fee date. After non-maintenance for three consecutive months, the card may be downgraded.
Are charges different for foreign currency cards? Yes. For foreign currency (FCY) debit cards — available to Roshan Digital Account (RDA) and FCY account holders — the annual fee for a USD account is USD 65, for a GBP account it is GBP 50, and for a Euro account it is EURO 60.
Do FED (Federal Excise Duty) and other government taxes apply? Yes. Federal Excise Duty and all other applicable government levies are charged in addition to the stated service charges, unless explicitly noted otherwise in the SOC.
Tips to Avoid or Reduce Allied Bank Card Charges
Here are some practical ways to manage or minimize what you pay:
- Use ABL ATMs (On-Net) whenever possible — withdrawals at ABL’s own network of 1,500+ ATMs are free, while you can withdraw cash from over 13,000 ATMs across Pakistan including 1,500+ Allied Bank ATMs
- Use Raast for fund transfers — it’s completely free and instant
- Check your eligibility for fee waivers — freelancer accounts, Rising Star accounts, RDA accounts, and ABL employee accounts may qualify for first-year fee waivers or full exemptions
- Maintain required balances for premium cards — falling below the threshold results in monthly penalty charges of Rs. 3,000
- Activate your card via biometric ATM — this activation service is provided free of charge
- Monitor your spending abroad — currency conversion fees and cross-border transaction charges apply to international use, so plan your foreign spending accordingly
